Extra information: e-mails

I'm going to London!

I've worked on this group trip for quite a while now and was actually starting to feel very excited about it. So it no longer stays a fictional trip.
Right after the exams of January I'm going to London for the first time, to try out the schedule that I've put together!
I'll send a postcard!

Day 5: maps

Travelling is fun but you have to know where you're going and how to get there.
We all have smartphones with GPS systems on them but I decided to plan everything out in Google Maps just in case. Below you can find the printscreens. Click to enlarge them.

From the hotel to Shakespeare's Globe.

 Back to the hotel.

From the hotel to St Pancras, where we'll be taking the train back home.

DAY 5: Shakespeare's Globe

A trip to London wouldn't be a good trip to London if we didn't include Shakespeare at some point. Our last day in London will be filled with only one activity: the Shakespeare's Globe!

The Shakespeare's Globe is a theatre from back in 1598. You're able to discover Shakespeare's work (amongst other things) through exhibitions, tours and plays!

Right after, we pack our bags and head home.

Day 4: Westminster Abby, London Eye

Even though most students already start yawning when they hear "700-year old church", I think Westminster Abbey will absolutely blow their minds. The long list of people buried there might also impress them, since there is at least one they will know.

After the Westminster Abbey the students get a chance to go on the London Eye. The price is not included in this trip because some students might not want to go if they're afraid of heights. Optional, but looks like a lot of fun!

Day 3: Tower of London & London Bridge

On day three, we're going back to the River Thames. Not to go on another boattrip, but to go see the Tower of London and the London Bridge.

The Tower of London has a very important historical story (William the Conquerer) and is great to let the past come to live for the kids. The London bridge is simply gorgeous and will probably end up on a lot of students' Instagram pages.

A night at the cinema

On Wednesday we have a slower day so at night we're taking the students out to the cinema.
We've chosen a cinema close to the hotel which is called Odeon cinema and is on Holloway Road, it's about 15 minutes away from the hotel. (Click here for the link to their website)
There are special offers for big groups and students.

I don't know what films will be available by then but if I had to take them now I would take them to Fantastic Beasts and where to find them.

This is not only a great movie that is suitable for each and every age group, it is also written by J.K. Rowling, which is probably the most popular (female) British writer. She's also known from the Harry Potter series - which a lot of students are big fans of.

Activity: Jack the Ripper walk

On Tuesday we're doing a guided tour. This one takes place around 19.30 and focuses on "Jack the Ripper".
I decided to do a tour like this because it's a good night activity and I think the children will be fascinated by it. Jack the Ripper is a very mysterious person, that fascinated a lot of people around the world in every single age group. Even though this is history, I feel like the students will think this is a lot of fun.

Infamous murderer Jack the Ripper killed at least five London female prostitutes in 1888. Never captured, his identity is one of English's most famous unsolved mysteries.

You don't have to book, you just have to show up so that's really nice. The trip costs £10 per person.

DAY 2: River Thames and Imperial War Museum

On day two, we're going to see the River Thames and the Imperial War Museum during the day. If there is time left, students can get some time to explore London.
